Creatinine is a metabolic product produced by creatine and phosphocreatin in muscle and its daily production is constant. Little creatinine is produced from meat -based foods obtained from the daily diet. Creatinine is carried through the blood to the kidneys. The kidneys filter out creatinine and excrete it in the urine.
The clearing creatinine test measures the amount of creatinine that has been excreted from the blood into the urine over a 24 -hour period.
The clearans creatinine test was used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate. The glomerular filtration rate is a measure to determine the ability of the kidneys to function, especially the filter unit. This filter unit is called the glomeruli.
